Days out in the local area
Here are our top tips for day trips and places to visit in easy distance of Wye Glamping in Felindre or our glamping sites in Hay-on-Wye.
Cantref Adventure Centre (LD3 8LR, 20-30 mins). Cantref is perfect for both wet and dry days, you’ll find pony rides, tractor rides, a softplay centre. Trampolines, stage shows, animal petting and lots more. Most suitable for those up to the age of 12.
Small Breeds Centre (HR5 3HF, 20-30 mins). A real gem of a place, where you can get up close and personal with owls, miniature ponies and pigmy goats to name just a few.
Brecon Mountain Railway (CF48 2DD, 40-50 mins). Travel on a steam train alongside some of the reservoirs in the Brecon Beacons. There’s a little museum and café on site, as well as a play area and family friendly walks.
National Showcaves of Wales (SA9 1GJ, 40-50 mins). A firm favourite with our guests. Suitable for all ages and weather (as the caves are obviously undercover). Dinosaur park for the little ones. Iron age fort.
The Big Pit (NP4 9XP, 1hr). As with all museums in Wales, this one is free. Underground tours, exhibitions and trails. Learn all about the Welsh mining history. Children need to be 1m tall to go underground.
Explore Waterfalls Country (1hr) In the south west of the Brecon Beacons, the rivers Mellte, Hepste, Pyrddin and Nedd-fechan form a series of dramatic waterfalls surrounded by Welsh rainforest, before joining to form the River Neath.
